Streamlined Quick-Unfolding Investigator Drone (SQUID)

The JPL SQUID (Streamlined Quick-Unfolding Investigator Drone) task is a development effort partnered with Caltech to design tube-launched aerial rotorcraft. Tube-launch provides a predetermined path for the rotorcraft away from higher-value assets prior to rotor spin-up, allowing the low-risk deployment of disposable rotorcraft from larger rovers/landers (JPL applications) or ground vehicles (DARPA applications).
