SuperBot: Modular, Multifunctional, Reconfigurable Robot

This effort will design and develop a modular, multifunctional and reconfigurable robotic platform that can dynamically change shape, size and functionality based on mission phase or fault recovery. JPL's role includes the development of surface system requirements for mobility, test plans and procedures for validation, and visual perception techniques including feature tracking and stereo.

JPL has a co-investigation role for this work, which is led by Wei-Min Shen of the
University of Southern California's Information Sciences Institute
