Robotics Technology Transfer

The Advanced Systems Division of the Space and Naval Warfare (SPAWAR) Systems Center, San Diego, is involved in the development of land and air robotic vehicle technology for applications in mobile robot security systems, force protection systems, and tactical remote surveillance and security systems. In a previous project, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) provided to SPAWAR a set of Digital Signal Processor (DSP)-powered smart cameras capable of performing stereo-based obstacle avoidance.

SPAWAR would like to leverage already developed JPL robotic technology and further that development for future use in their robotic technology programs. SPAWAR is also interested in further advancement of these technologies to reduce the size and power consumption of the perception systems, to enable their integration into smaller platforms with longer mission duration.
