Perception System Design for FCS ANS

The objective of this task is to apply JPL’s expertise in remote sensing and perception for autonomous navigation to the design and development of the perception subsystem for the Future Combat Systems (FCS) Autonomous Navigation System (ANS). This includes sensors, processors, and algorithms for perceiving the geometry and composition of terrain for day/night, all-weather, off-road navigation. Current focus is on the development of vision-based terrain mapping algorithms, FPGA correlators, human detection algorithms, and vehicle detection algorithms.

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory is a member of a team led by General Dynamics Robotics Systems (GDRS) which provides support to the lead system integrators for FCS, Boeing and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC).
