The current NATO Reference Mobility Model (NRMM) capability has been designed to support mobility assessment of crewed ground vehicles. The goal of the ongoing Next Generation NRMM is to significantly improve upon the current empirical approach by using physics based models for mobility assessment. The goals of the Next Gen NRMM project is to develop mobility assessment capability for uncrewed intelligent vehicles in off-road environments. Key challenges include the fact that vehicle intelligence technology is a rapidly evolving area and the unstructured and uncertain nature of off-road environments.
