Human Detection

Human Detection
Demonstration of moving person detection. Left: input image. Right: input image labeled with detected moving person.
The long-term goal of this task is to develop methods for detecting and tracking humans in close proximity to an autonomous vehicle. Given that the principle motivation is safe operation of a vehicle in environments containing both trained operators and untrained bystanders, the requirements are extremely strict: the system must achieve reliable detection over ranges from zero to at least many tens of meters, have low latency (hundreds of milliseconds), and operate under a variety of environmental conditions.
