Digital periscope target tracking.
This task develops and demonstrates a high-resolution 360-degree visual/IR imaging system with active range finding capabilities incorporating imaging technologies that may be used in future, non-rotating, non-hull penetrating submarine periscope systems. The system should meet the equivalent performance requirements of the AN/BVS-1 Photonics Mast, which is currently limited to a maximum, instantaneous field-of-view of 32 degrees horizontal by 24 degrees vertical, and would eventually provide automatic target detection, tracking and recognition.
