Automated Plant Micro-Propagation

Automated Plant Micro-Propagation
The "cut and puff" technique uses a tube with a sharp rim for cutting, and a solenoid-valve controlled puff of air to insert the shoot into the output tray.
This effort will collaborate with the industry to identify the technology that would most benefit plant micro-propagation. From this analysis, a design will be created for a robotic work-cell for automated micro-propagation using commercially available products. As part of the design, explicit consideration will be given to industry-acceptable cost of equipment and operations as a design specification for technology developed. As part of the implemented system, recently developed autonomous vision-guided manipulation techniques will be used to selectively perform the plant separation process.
