The Linear Actuation Sample Transfer (LAST) testbed helps establish the mean pushing force required to extrude a stuck rock core from a cute RSTA (Returnable Sample Tube Assembly). Additionally, it allows us to quantify and evaluate the effectiveness of various methods (vibration, rotation, tapping, etc.) in reducing the extruding force needed. We also assess the condition of the rock core throughout testing, noting any degradation or fragmentation, while preparing the sample for the Core Dissection Tray.
