Biography

Stephen F. Peters earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has developed Space Shuttle flight software and JPL ground software used by the Viking, IRAS, Galileo, Deep Space One, MER, and MRO missions. He has engaged in robotics and artificial intelligence research at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and at the Electrotechnical Laboratory in Tsukuba, Japan. He also served as on-site systems engineer for Hayabusa at the Institute of Space and Astronautical Science in Sagamihara, Japan. He currently is a member of the Constellation command and control systems engineering team, is subsystem systems engineer for the Mars Science Laboratory surface guidance, navigation, and control team, and is providing uplink operations engineering support for the Mars Exploration Rovers mission.
