Biography

Alex completed her Masters while attending the University of California, San Diego Computer Science PhD program. There she evaluated high level synthesis tools by implementing KinectFusion in real time and created digital terrain models with LIDAR/IMU/GPS sensors. Her interests include 3D reconstruction, computer vision, sensor fusion, and software.

Her work at JPL began with multi-agent autonomy, autonomous underwater vehicle navigation, and computer vision/machine learning methods for object detection, classification, and segmentation.

Alex is a member of the Mars 2020 Flight Software Team. Her roles include programming across levels of the rover software stack, including services and payloads. She implemented software for the new ground-penetrating radar instrument, RIMFAX.

She is currently a Flight Software Systems Engineering Lead on the PSYCHE Flight Software Team, where she coordinates tasks, impacts engineering change requests, and manages release content. She also writes instrument manager software for the majority of the science instruments on PSYCHE, including the magnetometer, imagers, and gamma ray and neutron spectrometers.
