This task is enabling the development of an inexpensive and functionally comparable rover testbed for university use. Such a platform will facilitate technology integration with expensive JPL rover prototypes and NASA flight rover systems. It will also help with the development of university-created algorithms. In this way, this effort will improve technology infusion by reducing the cost and time required to transfer, integrate, test, and validate new capabilities on JPL rovers.
This effort is collaborative with Carnegie Mellon University.
