JPL is developing a supervised autonomy system to enable human-guided mobile robotics/manipulation. The Surrogate software system will be demonstrated on a prototype robot with the goal of augmenting in-situ field response teams. While the primary focus is on dexterous tool use, the robot will encounter various unstructured outdoor terrain and human-built environments.
This research is funded by the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
