Senior Member of Technical Staff
(Full description>>)
Jeffrey Biesiadecki has been a software engineer at NASA's Jet Propusion Laboratory since 1993, after completing his Master's degree in Computer Science at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He designed and implemented the core motor control and non-autonomous mobility flight software for the Mars Exploration Rovers, and is also one of the rover drivers for the Mars Exploration Rover "Opportunity", responsible for command sequences that tell the rover where to drive and how to operate its robotic arm on the surface of Mars.
- MS Computer Science, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
- BS Mathematics and Computer Science, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
- flight software (motor control, mobility, manipulation, command processing)
for the Rough and Steep Lunar Surface Mobility research task,
also known as ATHLETE.
- rover driver for the Mars Exploration Rover "Opportunity"
- flight software (motor control, mobility, rover standup deployments, power)
for the Mars Exploration Rovers
- flight software (imaging, command processing) for the Athena-Rover
research task, precursor to Mars Exploration Rovers
- spacecraft simulation software, DARTS/Dshell
- command translation ground software for JPL's
Advanced Multi-Mission Operations System
- at UIUC Department of Geology, groundwater flow and geochemical modeling
